Olympia Artswalk, April 23-24! Come check out my work

I decided to participate in my towns bi-annual Artswalk this year. I’m going to showcase a mix of both my ink drawings and computer work. The show will be located at the Say This Say That office, which is located at 508 Legion Way SE Suite #1, Olympia, WA SUITE 1. I’m also showcasing with Joey Freer and my brother, Richard Franzen. We are going to be number 72, if you need any help finding us, heres the official artswalk map.

I’ll also have some merchandise and prints on hand for those interested.

So if anyone local decides to pop in and say hi, then thanks! I hope you enjoy our show!

A moon and a bird, two new ink drawings

I recently completed two new ink drawings. I’m slowly preparing for the spring Olympia Artswalks by creating some new pieces. Hopefully I find the time to get everything put together. The first of these two pieces is titled “Iapetus”, which is named after the “two-tone” moon of Saturn. The second piece is called “Paradisaeidae” which is the genus for a bird of paradise. With my ink drawings, I try to go for a more abstract approach instead of realistic. I think they both came out pretty good. These are fun to do in order to take a break from digital work.

Dragons and hedghogs oh my!

I’ve been in an ink drawing mood lately. I decided to take a small break from digital stuff to get this ink fever out of my blood and created a couple new pieces.

I used to raise african pygmy hedgehogs, so I thought it would be a perfect animal to draw! I know in other countries there are a lot of wild hedgehogs that like to wander around in gardens and such, so I wanted the piece to reflect a hedgehog hiding in a garden. This first piece reflects this…

The second pic, I was listening to the Ryu – Starmine album and it made me think… why haven’t I drawn a dragon yet? I figured it would be a good subject. So I decided to go with Seiryu, one of the four guardians in Asian culture. This is the Japanese name for the dragon who guards the eastern part of the country and represents spring. Its also one of the alias used by Ryu.

I wanted to make it look as if the dragon was flying in the clouds, perhaps its flying around fireworks. Hopefully you guys perceive it differently.

Sexy Vampire shirts now available!

Just opened up my store! Each shirt is printed on American Apparel Unisex with waterbased inks, giving it a sweet vintage based look that won’t crackle after washing it a bunch. I’m currently only shipping to the US and Canada though. Once I get some rates for other countries, I’ll open it up to those.
